What is AR and VR?
AV and VR are abbreviations used in the context of technology and digital experiences. They refer to:
- AV - Augmented Reality (Augmented Reality): Augmented Reality (AR) or augmented reality is a technology that adds digital elements to the physical world to create an enriched user experience. AR allows digital objects such as images, videos, 3D models and other virtual elements to be displayed in the real environment. These digital elements are usually shown via a smartphone, tablet, AR glasses or other AR device. AR allows users to see the real world and interact with virtual objects at the same time.
Examples of AR applications include AR games, where virtual characters appear in the real world, AR navigation apps that superimpose directions on the real environment, and AR applications in healthcare and education where medical or educational information is displayed on a real patient or teaching material.
- VR - Virtual Reality (Virtual Reality): Virtual Reality (VR) or virtual reality is a technology that immerses users in a fully simulated environment, separate from the real world. Using VR headsets such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive or Google Cardboard, users can move into a virtual environment that contains 3D visuals, sound and interactive elements. VR provides a sense of presence and allows users to interact with the virtual environment as if they were actually physically there.
VR is used in a variety of applications, such as VR gaming, VR training and education, VR simulations for professional purposes (e.g. pilot training, medical training), and VR experiences in entertainment, such as 360-degree videos and VR movies.
